Welcome to Uff Island!

When it’s finished, this will be a 2D platformer game with a mix of RPG thrown in.

You’ll play as a little Uff who finds that the world is a bigger place than expected, and figuring out who you are amongst it all is not as simple as you might think.

It is being created in the Godot Engine.

What’s an Uff?

I’m glad you asked!

Uffs are fuzzy little excitable creatures about the size of a ping pong ball. Not that they know it! They live on a little tiny island in the middle of a vast ocean and have never met humans before, though plenty of our junk finds it’s way there.

There are several kinds of Uffs, each with their own set of abilities. For example, Green Uffs (Gruffs) are exceptional climbers and jumpers. This helps them get around their forested homeland with ease.

Happy Dance!

What will gameplay entail?

You’ll be playing as an Uff of a different color, trying to find out who they are. You explore the island visiting different types of Uffs learning about their cultures and gaining their abilities by completing quests.

As you explore, you’ll be collecting gems which you use to power your abilities and also upgrade them.

There will be enemies to face, and dungeons to overcome, but the difficulty of this game will be easy over all; taking you back to the beginning of each level/dungeon should you fail it. I want the story to come before the challenge in this project.

Why/How are you making this game?

Currently, I’m making this game all on my own as a solo indie dev. The idea started several years back as a doddle on the back of a piece of receipt paper and some pixel art. Since then it has blossomed into a story, and then a game idea.

In a way, this game will be exploring ideas and concepts about human society which I myself have trouble understanding, and would like to view/show from a different angle.

I’ll be using Godot as the engine and Pyxel Edit for the images. It will be my first time using the Godot engine, but I’ve used similar engines before and am a proficient programmer, so that shouldn’t be much of an issue. I plan on streaming my progress on Twitch, so join me there if that interests you.

The very beginning…
